A troupe of struggling stage actors is rehearsing for a small-town production of a play. Everything seems to be as it should until one of the cast members turns up dead. In a panic, the others try to get out, only to find they are now locked in the theater with the killer! Which one of them committed the murder, and who will get out alive?。在宫城县的山里，潮田芳子（内田有纪饰）毒杀一对不伦男女，并将他们伪造成自杀的模样，旋即返回东京。为了及时有效得到案情的确切消息，她订阅了仅在地方发行的《仙台日报》。为了回到营销部的订阅理由，她谎称喜欢连载小说作家杉本孝志（高岛政伸饰）的作品。名不见经传的杉本得知遥远的东京有女性书迷存在自然喜悦非常，可是芳子在得知死者被警方判定为服毒自杀后迅速解除了订阅合同。此后不久，杉本辗转来到东京找到芳子，一方面表达作为作家的谢意，一方面针对那起案件提出质疑，准备以此创作一部小说。而在此过程中，芳子不可避免地露出了马脚…… 本片根据松本清张的同名原作改编。。
