小龙在少林练得一身好武艺，被师父派下山找佛缘。他与师兄走散，流落街头。后来，他遇到了酷爱文物的钟一山，并和一山一起赶往少林，将一山高价买来的佛首送回佛林。钟一山的兄弟一风却是倒卖文物的恶徒，对一山一路追堵。小龙协助一山与歹徒力斗，并将佛首安全送达少林。少林主持祝贺小龙找到了真正的佛缘——除恶行善。。Volker Schlöndorff transposes Bertolt Brecht’s late-expressionist work to latter-day 1969.
