1949年10月1日，解放战争进入第三阶段末期，国民党盘踞东南重镇广州顽抗，但固守无望的形势下，国民党方面计划在撤往台湾之前破坏广州市基础设施以阻挠解放。潜伏国民党内部的中共情报员晏海清（郭晓冬 饰）跟随军统处长夏惠民（孙淳 饰）多年，此次接受组织任务，由夏惠民处窃取阻挠计划的详细内容。 肃杀气氛笼罩下的广州，晏海清在险若踩钢丝的碟报工作中小心前行，身边只有一个年轻单纯的女佣秋喜（江一燕 饰）陪伴，面对后者感恩般的爱意，晏海清态度躲闪无法正视，与此同时，夏惠民对这位可疑下属的看法也似乎超越了一般意义的工作关系，潜藏着别样的内容……。Heaven is now happily married and ready to settle back in her hometown.
