Surveying these striking and stark landscapes, one might think they’ve ventured into the Mid...。安政七年（1860年）的三月三日，德川幕府控制下的日本迎来了改变历史的重要事件。在鹅毛大雪漫天飞舞的江户城樱田门外，幕府大老井伊扫头直弼（中村吉右卫门 饰）被18名水户藩浪人刺杀，史称“樱田门外之变”。担任护卫的彦根藩武士志村金吾（中井贵一 饰）自感失职，可却求死不能。因父母代他自杀，故彦根藩命令金吾追杀在逃的五名浪人，将人头祭献在井伊大老的墓前赎罪。在接下来的十三年漫长岁月里，日本内外发生翻天覆地的巨变，明治维新胜利，新政府废藩置县，但这些似乎全与金吾无关，他穿着早已不合时宜的武士装束，执着地追寻那几名浪人武士的下落。殊不知仅存的一人佐桥十兵卫（阿部宽 饰）早已化名直吉，以车夫的身份在城市的最顶层求生。两个悲剧的小人物，终将迎来宿命的重逢…… 本片根据浅田次郎的同名短篇小说改编。。What does it mean, to go to the movies?
