本片是关于德国新电影领军人物之一、电影大师维姆·文德斯的纪录片，以其代表作品《德州巴黎》等经典段落为线索，全方位呈现了他近半个世纪的影路历程和拍摄理念。影片不仅让文德斯对镜自述，更邀请到科波拉、赫尔佐格、帕蒂·史密斯、威廉·达福等与之合作过的名人“现身说法”，做出褒贬不一的评价。导演还选用了一些鲜为人知的影像资料，向观众展示了文德斯不走寻常路的现场拍摄方式。该片荣获2020年瑞士玫瑰奖艺术奖，亦被推荐为德国“申奥”纪录片。。Documentary which take as subject the Oberhausen Group and New German Cinema, and some of those who followed in their footsteps.
