象牙山村里成立了“大龄青年婚姻理事会”，主要聚焦大龄单身青年的婚恋问题，刘能、广坤等人积极地帮忙牵绳搭线。理事会成立的本意是怀着撮合有情人终成眷属的美好愿景，众人齐心协力只为帮助屯里单身青年脱单，然而却闹出了“棒打鸳鸯”、“拉郎配”等等一系列令人啼笑皆非的笑话。。This first film version of "The Children's Hour" uses a heterosexual triangle rather than the play's lesbian theme. The plot concerns schoolteachers Karen Wright and Martha Dobie, both of whom are in love with Dr. Joe Cardin.
